Synopsis:  Good morning. We have noted that you have suspended races for today. Please find a forecast below for the IRC East Coast Championship vicinity to assist in any last minute preparations ahead of HURRICANE Sandy.

A COLD FRONT over central Pennsylvania and w'rn Maryland will remain stationary through tomorrow before moving w'ward and weakening on the 30th.

AT 28/09Z, HURRICANE SANDY WAS CENTERED NEAR 31.9N 73.3W (APPROXIMATELY 225NM SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF CAPE HATTERAS, NORTH CAROLINA), MOVING NE'WARD AT 11KTS, WITH MAXWINDS 65- 80KTS. GALE RADIUS IS 270NM S'RN SEMICIRCLE, 270NM NW'RN QUADRANT, 450NM NE'RN QUADRANT.

HURRICANE Sandy will track ne'ward the next 24 hours, then the system will turn nw'ward as a HIGH builds northeast of Newfoundland in 36 hours. The system will transition into an EXTRATROPICAL STORM before making landfall over central New Jersey in 48 hours. Although the system is becoming extratropical, the system will still have HURRICANE force winds. The remnants will move inland over central Pennsylvania in 72 hours before turning n'ward while gradually weakening over central New York and over s'rn Quebec in 96-120 hours.

Current Conditions: The latest land observation at 0500lt at Annapolis U.S. Naval Academy was reporting light rain and an air temperature of 61 degrees. Winds were N at 7kts and the visibility was 10 miles. The buoy offshore Thomas Point was reporting ENE winds of 16kts with gusts to 19kts and an air temperature of 59 degrees. A buoy offshore Riviera Beach was reporting ENE winds of 17kts gusts to 19kts and an air temperature of 60 degrees.

Latest radar shows a heavy rain band extending over the s'rn Chesapeake Bay ne'ward to n'rn Delaware. This band will slowly move nnw'ward towards the n'rn Chesapeake Bay this afternoon.


Severe Weather Potential/Advisories:
 A STORM warning is in effect for the Chesapeake Bay until 8PM Tuesday. A STORM warning means winds of 48-63kts are imminent. A coastal flood watch remains in effect from late Monday night through Tuesday evening. Tidal anomalies of around 1ft are expected today through tomorrow, then increase 2-3ft on Tuesday. Times of the next HIGH tides near the Annapolis U.S. Naval Academy is 5:26PM this afternoon and 5:13AM tomorrow morning.

Conclusions: ENE fresh to strong winds will shift to more N-NE and increase to minimal GALE force late this afternoon through this evening. Scattered showers/squalls will become numerous this afternoon. N-NE GALE force winds tomorrow morning will strengthen and become, at times, STORM force during the late afternoon hours.
