Next Stop: U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis!
By: Amanda Delaney , Assistant Operations Manager
Amanda Headshot

We had another great year at the Newport International Boat Show meeting clients and introducing people who are new to our products. Operations Manager, Jeremy Davis, and Meteorologist Chris Iraggi represented Weather Routing Inc. at our booth. We wanted to thank everyone who stopped by our booth to learn more about our services.

Meteorologist Chris Iraggi speaks with Captain Daniel Gulley and his wife, Jenny, about our services at the Newport International Boat Show.

If you plan on attending the United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis this October 5th-9th, 2017, please stop by the Weather Routing booth. We are located in Tent K, Booth 14 where Jeremy Davis and Assistant Operations Manager, Amanda Delaney will be staffing the booth. We will showcase our customized routing and forecasting services and our SeaWeather.net supplemental website. In addition, we will have several WRI branded giveaways available.

We always enjoy meeting our present and future clients and hope you can stop by our location. If you plan on visiting, please let us know by e-mail at wri@wriwx.com.

WRI's New Climatology Reports: Knowing what to Expect
By: Brian Whitley, Senior Meteorologist
Brian Headshot

Have you ever been tasked with planning a trip to a part of the world that you have never been? Knowing whether the trip is feasible or not just in terms of getting there, and then what kind of weather to expect when you are there, is a big challenge. Let the globally-forecasting experts at WRI help you decide if the trip is achievable and what your best routing options are. Read more...

We have upgraded our reports within the last couple of years, and they are now more easily understood with a mix of simplified text, graphs, and statistics. These graphics include a wind rose with a table that provides the average wind direction and frequency of the wind speed in Beaufort Force, and a table of the likelihood of sea height.

Other tables display what directions the vessel will most likely encounter the weather (such as beam, head or following), favorable and unfavorable currents, and our recommended route on a map. Similar data is displayed graphically if the climatology report is given for a specific region for a certain time of year.

Additionally, a customized voyage map displays WRI's recommended route and the weather features that are expected while underway. If there are any alternative routing options, these will also be plotted on the map.

Of course, the reports also still include a "Conclusions" which wraps up our thoughts and suggestions into a neat and easy to read interpretation. If you have any uncertainties regarding where you may be going within the next week or the next year, WRI can assist in your planning to make it as safe, and pleasurable, a trip as possible.

Wind roses, charts, and graphs, are just some of the ways our climatology studies "paint the picture" in detailing common weather patterns for any area at any time (click to enlarge)
